29th June- Where has this month gone?

Hello daily update!

It looks gorgeous out there today! I have the day off although I have a meeting later though which sort of messes up the day a little. I think I should go considering I'm trying to get a contract job and it's always good to get your face around, I know it doesn't sound like it but I don't mind meetings and training ect. It's surprising the amount of work I have gained by just being around.

I have booked in three days of training too, conflict management, drug and alcohol awareness, deaf awareness and DIY skills. =D It's all free and can go on the CV well maybe not the DIY that's more for me.

What have I been doing to be MF these last couple of days?

  • Well obviously putting in that little extra at work, which I'm sure will pay off.
  • I have searched for the cheapest quote for home insurance, I then looked at Quidco you can get £1 back if you go through confused.com I know it's really not a lot, but I'll look on their website later see if I can get a cheeper quote.
  • My friend told me the local college will service and repair cars for a cheepish price, I never thought of this. Also the college restaurant does three course meals for £10! I'm sure most local colleges offer services like this.
  • I also set some goals to keep me focussed you can find these under Little Miss Future tab.
Today I'll finish some assignments I think it would be great to finish the Health and Safety work, as that is quite dull!
I would quite like to create a training file for me, I have a file for work I would like to create a massive file even if it sits at home which has important documents I need for work maybe even put a PDP (Personal Development Plan) in there! Think I'm getting slightly ahead of myself now!
I need to just generally start sorting things out, packing (sorting before packing), sorting house things out (mostly boring things) looking for jobs, finishing my paperwork, create an action plan or similar something to keep me on track or else I get busy with other tasks. Anyway I'm blabbing.
Will update when I have something more interesting to say.

Week Two to Three

Gosh can't believe it has been two weeks since I have updated! Where does the time go?

I survived the interview I managed to get though to the final interview stage! But I got a bit nervous and I think I messed up a couple of questions, I didn't get the job unfortunately, although I'm still very proud of getting shortlisted in the first place! The job hunt continues boo!
House news update-we should exchange this week!!! Hooray!

Me and OH have been to the car boot, we got a pop up tent for £6.50 £40 in Argos! An exercise mat for OH again £6.50, £20 online and a dyson vacuum admittedly it's an older model, got it for £15. Really can't grumble. I love car boots! =D
We brought a decent sat of phones for the news house from Argos, a Panasonic twin pair, good ratings was £99 down to £54.99 a little more than what we did plan to spend on a pair of phones but I think it's important to know when to save and what to splurge on.

Since not getting the job I have realized I really want to stay within my field, but I would like to go into welfare. I went for a job in welfare last year, didn't even get an interview I have little experience with dealing with any real welfare issues as such. Instead of thinking oh well I'll stay doing what I do I'm going to do what I can to get some experience. I may not get the job this time round but if it's what I really fancy then I might as well try and get as much experience as I can in the mean time. Don't give up on your dreams readers!

I have already signed up for some staff training instead of the eugghh I'm busy I thought no I have to put the effort in! I want to work where I work full time and I'm half way there I can't give up! I know I will regret it if I do. I found the picture above whilst looking for a photo to reflect this post, I love it very motivating. =D

So this week is going to be job, personal development and house I think! This will all count towards the mortgage free life!

Week One 13th June- 20th June 2011

To keep me motivated I have decided to record what I have achieved on a week to week basis as so I can look back when I am finally Mortgage Free! (MF) and also as something to motivate me! If you want to join me please do leave a comment!

So this week I have:

1. I have created a OP mortgage tracker on Excel, which I love and I feel this is really going to help motivate me!
2. Chased a £25 amazon voucher I should of had for setting up a joint account, called a few people and e-mailed a few more and I now have this!
3. Kept up my running, which is saving gym membership!
4. Received 8p from Quidco! Every little helps.
5. Managed to get an interview for a contract job full time hours at the place where I work now. :T I am so pleased I have got shortlisted I think I will get destroyed in the interview it's an all day one, but I've got to go for it haven't I? :o

This week I need to:
1. Get my interview clothes sorted out, this may mean spending a little money.
2. Complete at least 5 assignments for a course I am doing.
3. Finish cross stitching the tree.
4. Try and buy Mr Big the Iron on offer from Argos when it comes back into stock!
5. To have exchanged by Friday. (unfortunately I do not have complete control of this, but I do have pester power on my side!) Basically sort out anything which crops up regarding the house.
6. Get prepared for the interview and go to the interview! I deserve a big treat for this as I am dreading it!

Today looks like it may be a good day!

I have had a little news from the house today, we are all ready to exchange once a completion date has been set which is fantastic! Again just waiting for the other side to sort themselves out.

Logged on to my Quidco account today, for those of you who have never used the site it's pretty good, it's sooooo simple to join (takes two mins) you receive a small amount of cash back for every online purchase you make. This is only useful if you are buying that product anyway, and you have shopped around for the best price!
The cash back rate varies sometimes you get special deals to shop at particular retailers. =]
I had been meaning to start using Quidco but never got round to it, I know that is a lame excuse! I've brought 3 99p items and received 8p cash-back nothing major but I can see how this adds up on more expensive items. Worth checking out I'd say.

I have been working on a cross stitch for the new house I will put up the pictures when I have finished although I don't think I'm going to be able to make any money selling my cross stitch takes me forever!!! You can use this to create some really personal and lovely gifts for people. This is what I'd use mine for I think. =]

Oh and also I have chased up a £25 Amazon voucher I should have received by now, made a few phone calls and e-mails but I now have my voucher well worth the time.

Hope you are all having a good no spend day (if you can)!

Mortgage Free Wannabe!!!

Ok so what have I been up to recently? Well as you know me and Mr Big are buying a house together very soon, eeee!!! Unfortunately we don't have the money to pay for the house with cash (that would be amazing!) so we have to take out a mortgage.
We got the paper work through a few weeks ago and it was pretty crazy to see the amount of money we are paying just on interest-£16.87 a day pure interest!
This has really bothered me so I thought how am I going to sort this? Soooo I have created this amazing spread sheet which documents, interest per day, a month and how much overpayments are going to affect the mortgage. You know what I am determined to become Mortgage free!!!

The people over at Money Saving Expert have so many tips and tricks to saving money and becoming mortgage free, they are so inspirational. If anyone wants to join me in this quest please look over MSE there is a link on this site it's a fantastic resource.

On the plan to becoming mortgage free I am looking for a better paid job, I have an interview on Friday I don't expect to get it but I'm just chuffed I even have been considered for interview.

I will also be looking at other ways to up the income which I will share with you guys and also ways to save as much as possible everyday. I don't plan to pay off my mortgage in two years or anything crazy anyone can help to pay off small chunks of their mortgage, this site is for everyone wishing to save a few pennies.

Please feel free to leave a comment on any of my posts I hope you can join me in my long journey!

Please feel free to vote on my poll, thank you >

Hello lovely people!

Today is Friday hooray! I feel inspired today to organize my life and this blog. I do enjoy keeping a dairy type thing, although I have no real idea how I should be progressing this blog?

Do I just continue to talk rubbish about my life, or would you like me to focus on money saving, use this blog to record creative pretty things, post up my work?
What are you all interested in and I will do it!

If you would like to complete the poll or leave I comment I would be very grateful.
Thank you,

Little Miss

Getting Back to Reality

I didn't realize people are actually looking at my blog! I will have to keep up the blogging now.
I've been quite busy since my last posting, me and OH have found a place which we both love, things were going well but unfortunately a spanner has been thrown in the works! The survey says we need some work doing. This will slow things down. Oh well that's life I suppose!
I have also gone for a contracted position where I work at the moment I also think I have a chance of getting it, keeping my fingers crossed.

So yes, this will sound pathetic but what with all this house hunting I have been consumed in it all, I have let all other parts of my life go. I need to get back on track.

Money saving wise I have been doing ok, I have been scouring charity shops and car boots for things for the house. This has been good fun, scary the amount of money you can save, recycling at the same time! I have developed a spreadsheet with all the things we need for the house, and have made a estimate price i.e of costing in shops and and actual column of what I have paid for it. It's a great feeling beating the estimate target.

I just need to start my survey sites again and just get back into the whole life thing! =]
